Our delivered a promising performance at the East African Debate Championship held in Kigali, Rwanda, from May 31st to June 4th. Organized by Writing Our World from Uganda and Idebate Tournament of Rwanda, this prestigious event brought together 40 schools under the theme “Resilience, Determination, and Passion in Alleviating Poverty in the East African Region.”
Our talented debaters, Kankunda Shine (S.3), Ankunda Shasha (S.3), and Katushabe Jackline (S.3), represented Revival Girls’ High School with distinction. They secured impressive victories against Lycee Sainte Marie Reine Kabgayi of Kigali, Stella Mattutina, Kigali Christian High School, and Riviera High School of Kigali in the octo-final stage. Although they faced a tough match against Darling Wisdom in the quarter-final stage, their performance was commendable.
The championship concluded with the Uganda Cranes team, composed of top debaters from SMACK, Gombe SS, and Mengo SS, emerging as the winners. Hope Haven Christian SS of Rwanda took second place, and Ntare School of Uganda secured third place.
Beyond the competition, our debaters enjoyed a tour of Kigali’s highlights, including the BK Arena, Rwanda’s premier sports center, Ntare School Rwanda chapter, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial. This experience significantly enhanced their oratory skills, linguistic abilities, and overall confidence.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the school administration for providing such an enriching educational platform and to our dedicated Patron of the Debate Club, Akatuhurira Agness, for her unwavering support.
Congratulations to our debaters for their outstanding achievements!
